Continueing on about how to make a resume that doesn't get thrown away there are more things you ought to keep in mind when it comes to the overall look of your resume.

When creating your resume be sure that you use simple fonts that are easy to read. Often times using fancy fonts and colors do not result in the way you've intended them. More frequently using fancy fonts and colors make it more difficult for the prospective employer to read your resume, than it does to make your resume possitively stand out.

Also, the same goes with images and pictures. Pictures and graphics on a resume is distracting to recruiters. It is important to keep your resume as simple as possible without distracting the potential employer.

The things mentioned above are things that will likely get your resume tossed without a glance. It doesn't really matter how good your resume looks, but the quality of the information that is there and how it is presented... that's what employers look for and that's the best advice on how to make a resume that doesn't get thrown right away.

It's all in the quality of the material in the resume. Of course layout and presentation is important in your resume, don't get me wrong, but what good is the layout and presentation if you don't have any quality information to display and present to the prospective employer?

There are several important things that you need to keep in mind about how to make a resume that doesn't get thrown away immediately.

These are simple things but employers or the people who decide who gets hired or not notice these things more than anyone else... so before you try to hand out your resume make sure that you you know how to make a resume that doesn't go directly to the trash bin!

As simple as it is absolutely make sure that your resume is in proper order and that you have proper punctuation and spelling (unlike any of my blog posts!).

Resumes taht have a lot of grammatical errors and typos drives recruiters absolutely crazy... and seeing how I typed "taht" instead of "that" and is showing as a miss-spelled word with red underlining is a great point about how to make a resume that won't get thrown away too:

Just because it doesn't show up as a grammatical, spelling or other error in your word processor doesn't mean that everything is okie-dokie and fine to be sent off to a prospective employer....

Check and recheck everything!... Because not everything that is an error will show up in your word processing program.

Cummulatively someone may combine both types of resumes by describing their skills and experiences first then listing their career history next. With this resume you can both describe whatever skills and experiences you have that relate to the prostpective job and highlight the career history that many employers like to see.

A targeted resume is one that specifically highlights the skills and experiences they have that are relevant to the job you are applying for, and requires a lot of work on their part.
